PIPOSA

PIPOSA

The Piposa lounge chair is inspired by the intricate structure and colorful wings of a butterfly (mariposa in Spanish). The bright joyful colors are meant to uplift the observer and spark a sense of happiness. The minimal yet intricate metal frame is to give Piposa structure and a sense of elegance. The metal tubes transition effortlessly into each other creating a flow through the overall piece.

FABRIC INSPIRATION
COLLABORATOR

Hi! My name is Carol Pieters and I am studying Industrial Design at SCAD. My interest in fabrics and textiles comes from my roots and my culture. As a kid I was always interested in fabrics and I took indigenous weaving classes where my interest kept growing. I’m immensely grateful with Quinten for giving me the opportunity of collaborating in my two favorite fields – furniture and fabrics. My inspiration came from butterflies, which is how the fabric got its name, “Piposa”. Butterfly in Spanish is mariposa, and as a kid I used to called them “piposas”.
